Who & What are the ‘Sables’
The Sables are the woman’s division of Safari Club International (SCI). The purpose of this group is to promote the conservation, education and humanitarian programs of Safari Club International. The Sables’ division of the Badgerland Chapter of SCI is made up of women who hunt and some who don’t, but support the concept and programs of SCI. The members are not limited to women.
Each Chapter’s Sables division is required to have at least one fundraiser each year and send a portion of the proceeds to the national headquarters. This contribution helps to support the many projects that SCI sponsors.
The Sables have adopted the American Wilderness Leadership School (AWLS) and the International Wildlife Museum as the main beneficiaries of their fundraising activities. Other programs the Sables help support include, scholarships for educators to attend the ‘Teacher’s Workshop’ sessions at AWLS, provide funds for the printing of t-shirts for the ‘Becoming an Outdoors-Woman’ sessions, Books for Africa and the SafariWheels program. SafariWheels provides wheelchairs to land mine victims, many of which, are children. For more information contact Mary Ekkebus, davee4570@yahoo.com
